Sell My Duplex to Relatives
I have an easy situation set up to sell my duplex to relatives, if I decide to pursue it. Something tells me it might not be the best idea in the long run. Well, it might be the best thing for them, but not for me. This is an awkward situation because I don’t want to be the bad guy of the family if I choose to sell to another buyer instead.
When I bought the duplex about ten years ago it made sense to rent the other half of the duplex to people I knew. My half-brother and his wife moved in and paid rent on time. They have been good tenants, and of course they do not want to move out because they like the neighborhood and it’s been their home for so long.
Well, there are two big problems, as I see it. They do not have enough savings for a down payment and they want to buy it from me on contract. They call it, “owner financing.” I know they will make monthly payments in a timely manner because they have a long history of paying their rent on time. But transferring ownership of my biggest investment without a significant amount of cash does not seem like a smart thing to do.
And, to top it off, my half-brother wants a “family discount.” This request is what made me start thinking about finding a quick, cash buyer instead.
Sell My Duplex to We Pay Fast Instead
I called We Pay Fast, a team of professional homebuyers looking for properties like mine. They made me an offer over the phone, and I believe it may be the best solution to my awkward situation. We Pay Fast pays cash and closes fast, which could be in as little as a week to ten days from my signature on the documents they provided by email.
My half-brother and his wife may not be happy with me for a while. Their children and other relatives may not understand my choice either. But it’s my investment and I want to get my cash out now.
Call 1-800-WePayFast (1-800-937-2932 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to speak to the We Pay Fast buyers like I did. I found a way to avoid selling my duplex to relatives by working with We Pay Fast instead.
