Three Ways To Sell My House

After a lot of consideration, it seems like there are three ways to sell my house. Naturally, there are variations on each theme. But these are the three basic options to sell my home:

1. For sale by owner – I can post my own photos and provide my own details and descriptions on craigslist.org and other real estate websites. This option will require a lot of time and effort on my part. I may avoid paying a real estate commission, but I won’t avoid spending plenty of time and energy to find a buyer.

2. Listing with a real estate agent – I can sign a listing agreement to pay a commission at closing if my agent (or another agent) finds a buyer who qualifies for a mortgage loan, and we agree on the sale price and terms. This is the most common method most homeowners choose for selling their property because the agent arranges for all the photos, online posting, showings and closing for the transaction.

3. Calling a “we buy homes” investor – I can make one phone call and speak to a homebuyer who may be interested in purchasing my house directly from me.  There’s no guarantee I will get an offer I will accept, but I won’t know until I talk to them.
